I spent a reasonable proportion of my time yesterday altering the memories of a team of doctors, nurses and paramedics to ensure that Mark's condition would be attributed to an unfortunate refrigeration truck accident, rather than linking him and the people he works with to the destruction of a New York monument and the death of six people, by a group of mutants in pursuit of an enemy who just happened to conveniently disappear completely into another dimension. Because I didn't particularly feel the need to explain that scenario to the authorities.

In that time, in response to a insensitive teenage boy making stupid jokes about April Fool's Day, my crack secret team of intelligence professionals decided to tell a large population of teenage students (with no affiliation to the X-Men and no reason to think that any of the information we are providing to them is a secret or may contradict our cover story, which after all they have no reason to know that we need) exactly what happened. Without thinking that they may perhaps, when he's feeling better, decide to visit someone they know in hospital. And perhaps discuss the circumstances of his "accident" with him in front of staff who have a completely different version of this story in their head.

Reasons why Emma Frost is re-considering her funding of the Centre. Discuss.

Um, I was a good boy and didn't rise to the baiting?

Does this mean I can have Remy's job, Auntie Em?

(and when I do, is there a union regulation that prevents me from making him my cabana boy and serving me fruity drinks? Or is that your prerogative?)

I'll fight you for it? I've never had a cabana boy before.

Well, I don't really want Remy in anything approaching anything like cabana wear, but the original reference called for me to say "man-slave", which is probably worse.

So, whatever works for you.

*perks up* Is there an opening anywhere for the minion position? If there are cabana boys offered as part of the perks, I'd be more then happy to apply for it.

Well, I do have a few interesting swimsuits that I've been told in the past were quite fetching.

*ponders* I think that we can do without ever having to hear you say 'man-slave' Ramsey. Just sayin'.

Oh, I do not know. It would have been quite cute to hear him say it for the week he was female.

This would be one of the things I missed while I was in China, wouldn't it?

Emma, our existance as more than a think tank is well documented in that mansion, and essentially an open secret. If I went over there, broke both of his wrists and tied his arms together, we would have a concern. Fortunately, both Ororo and the Boyscout have hammered enough sense into their charges to know the consequences of not being circumspect, if not having tact.

I realize you've been out of the game for a long while, but this is covered. If you want to pull your funding and get out, do it now. But don't bother making threats.

The sheer act of living in that house puts them at far more danger than anything we can tell them, Emma. You might be a little oversensitive, considering that next to the huge secrets of the X-Men and the work of the mansion, we're small potatoes.

All that someone ever has to do is to use one of those kids to strip away our anonymity. Which they already have knowledge of. We're publicly connected to the school and can't change that. But, the second someone focuses on us as a player, we're out in the open regardless of details.

So, unless your suggestion is to utterly divide any contact between us, you will have to take the giant step of trusting the level of seperation that we've worked with since the start of all this.

I think discussion of extra dimensional demons implies subtlety. Perhaps I should come by your office and talk? We all need to be human and vent sometimes.

All I can say is, I'm good at filing, so if you fire everyone else, you can keep me on, all right?

Will we have to move when you "fire" us all? Because I just got my office the way I like it. I mean, the letterhead will be enough of a problem to change, but all those boxes...

Unless this is just Humiliating Remy in Public 101, in which case, carry on. I need a nap anyway.
