I spent a reasonable proportion of my time yesterday altering the memories of a team of doctors, nurses and paramedics to ensure that Mark's condition would be attributed to an unfortunate refrigeration truck accident, rather than linking him and the people he works with to the destruction of a New York monument and the death of six people, by a group of mutants in pursuit of an enemy who just happened to conveniently disappear completely into another dimension. Because I didn't particularly feel the need to explain that scenario to the authorities.
In that time, in response to a insensitive teenage boy making stupid jokes about April Fool's Day, my crack secret team of intelligence professionals decided to tell a large population of teenage students (with no affiliation to the X-Men and no reason to think that any of the information we are providing to them is a secret or may contradict our cover story, which after all they have no reason to know that we need) exactly what happened. Without thinking that they may perhaps, when he's feeling better, decide to visit someone they know in hospital. And perhaps discuss the circumstances of his "accident" with him in front of staff who have a completely different version of this story in their head.
Reasons why Emma Frost is re-considering her funding of the Centre. Discuss.

Does this mean I can have Remy's job, Auntie Em?
(and when I do, is there a union regulation that prevents me from making him my cabana boy and serving me fruity drinks? Or is that your prerogative?)

So, whatever works for you.

Though I will leave the fruity drinks to Jubilee.

I realize you've been out of the game for a long while, but this is covered. If you want to pull your funding and get out, do it now. But don't bother making threats.

The journals can't be hacked. The children can. Perhaps you do not think they should be protected from information that can lead to their harm, or believe that the X-Men will save them no matter what. I tried that once. I fucked up royally, Remy. And they killed all of my children because of it. I would prefer not to go through that again.

All that someone ever has to do is to use one of those kids to strip away our anonymity. Which they already have knowledge of. We're publicly connected to the school and can't change that. But, the second someone focuses on us as a player, we're out in the open regardless of details.
So, unless your suggestion is to utterly divide any contact between us, you will have to take the giant step of trusting the level of seperation that we've worked with since the start of all this.

Or making enemies of the people whose discretion we are relying on.

Unless this is just Humiliating Remy in Public 101, in which case, carry on. I need a nap anyway.
