Standard communication protocals of our network have turned up two of our people dead. Andre Lessing and Silva DiCiccu both turned up dead this week, and autospy reports suggest the possibility of foul play. We don't know if they were specifically targeted, but both men have provided us intelligence on Basque nationalists primarily. Could be nothing, could be something. Either way, we need to get some anwers in case this is just step one in something larger.
Amanda has the flight details for the people I need. No sense hauling everyone off. We'll be in touch if we need anything.
Also, stop sending me emails of the Mayan Apocalypse. I spent ten minutes trying to run down contacts in Central America before I noticed the Onion byline.

I don't believe they are of natural origin. Amanda, has there been any magical activity within the city recently?

We are aware that the occasional religious groups who come in to tell us (read: you at the front desk, thank you for not letting them get past you, as it keeps the costs of having the carpets cleaned when North shoots them) that we are going to hell for supporting Those Evil Muties are frustrating. We appreciate your continued dedication to keeping them far away from us.
However, re-labeling the hand sanitizer: to this is possibly a bit too much.

Aug. 20th, 2012 06:34 pmxp_daytripperI just got a call from Strange letting me know that the local magic users (himself included) noticed a fairly significant bit of power use in New York today. As in, opening a portal to another dimension type of power use. No indications yet if it's benign or not, but I've got our local branch of the network keeping an eye out and I'm about to do a bit of city diving to see if I can track the source.
Wanda, Nico, looks like it's time to rattle our magic-related snitches and see if there's anything going on.

The retreat was...difficult. And exhausting. But productive. Dr. Grim is very good at what he does.
Brass tacks - can't exactly think of a good way to segue into this, so I'll just say it. Events from Genosha got all twisted in with some previous issues, and left me with some pretty serious post-traumatic stress. And with everything we had to take care of there, I just kind of pushed it all down and wound up in a rut of 'just muddle through' that I didn't know how to get out of. But I had a pretty serious panic attack last week, and so it's pretty clear that I need help.
(With regard to specifics, I'd prefer to discuss those privately, one on one. My office door is open if you want to ask.)
Priority one is getting me to where I can go out in the field and not have to worry anyone about whether or not that's a good idea.

His name is Gus Grim, and he was formerly employed at the Fulmer Institute (the place we took Mr. Barnes' daughter to), but now has a private practice.
The retreat is in the Catskills. I've left the information with Sofia (you were right, he is a hardass). They ask that use of phones and email be minimized. I've scheduled a few check-in calls with Sofia, but past that, only in emergencies, please.
I'll be back in the office around lunchtime on Tuesday.

So I hope none of you had social lives planned this week. Drop anything routine on Cammie and Nico for filing, organizing and sorting for later.
Wanda, since you're back, you and Amanda can draw straws who gets to deal with bringing things back up to speed locally in the wide world of weird. Someone needs to book some time through Asia to shore up networks there.
MA, Jubilee, Doug, Ororo - all of you are on the move to the four corners of the earth. We got the holy hell kicked out of the network while we are gone, and like a spooked cat, either we calm it down or it tries to claw out face off. I'll be logging the frequent flyers miles along with you.
Sarah, we're going to keep you local for now. Contacts in and around NYC need to be touched on, and you can help coordinate intel and details coming back from the rest of us out there. We'll do a round up on Friday once everyone is back in.
