Two things that might be of interest:

1) Jean-Paul Beaubier is back in town, staying in District X. He's changed. A lot. Jubes, if you want to practice tailing a flyer with super-speed, it might be worth keeping an eye on him to make sure he's not in any trouble, since he wasn't talking to me at all.

2) Nico's Staff seems to have a mind of its own - it apparently "made" Adrienne Read it the other day. That's what I'm going to be working on for the foreseeable, that and Nico's family background. There's some nasty stuff potentially there and I need to know what I'm working against.

Guess who just earned herself a job? Morgan, JP is now your problem as long as he's outside the mansion. Keep an eye on him, and I want to know as much as he'll tell you about what he was up to after picking up Shiro and disappearing. Sarah, Doug; you're both on factchecking and research for everything that he doesn't tell Morgan.

Wanda, backstop Amanda. Use Illyana for some research. I'm tired of her scaring the FedEx guys sitting at the front desk.

I know we're stretched at the moment, but I don't like suspicious absences or dark forces just popping up unless I know the details.

He's not allowed to leave? Seriously guys, I'm not seeing the issue. He's a grown man, he can do whatever the fuck he wants whether that involves leaving Muir or staying there. He's not under contract to either be at the mansion or at Muir. He's not under house arrest. Jean-Paul's never been the bad guy, so why are we treating him like one? I get concerned friend, but I don't get orders to watch him.

Unstable mutant leaves Muir months ago, shows up in New York with a message to Xavier about returning and hides his location from everyone else. So the possibility is that he's just half crazy and went off on his own. Or that someone or something else is involved and his sudden return has reasons of its own. We will eliminate this possibility because it has happened before.

Faster you can confirm he's telling the truth about his absence, the faster we can focus on other things.

He was dealing with some shit before he left, I'm not sure he qualifies as unstable when he left to go make light beacons with his creepy twin sister. He doesn't want to be bothered. I think the man has the right to want to be left alone. Maybe he's having an attack of antisocial. I know something's up with him but he's not going to fucking kill us all. I know paranoid is your job title here and all, and I'll respect you know more than me but I know him more than you do and this tactic? It's fucked up and unnecessary. He's not a fucking job, LeBeau, he's my friend.

If you think anyone has the right to be left alone, you are in the wrong field, Morgan. He's a powerful mutant tied to Xavier's who dropped out of sight in a world that is full of very powerful people who would like to see the X-Men gone. And since you cannot tell me for sure that you know he's not currently operating under telepathic control, magic geas, coercion, or being fucking Mystique, he goes under the microscope like everyone else who we can't be sure about yet. The reason this is necessary is that these things have happened before and the people inolved have always been 'somebody's friend'.

This is the job, Morgan. Our personal lives and feelings don't get a free pass.

No, what will assuage my concerns is doing exactly what I said to do; get the details of where he's been and what he's done and make sure they check out and don't raise any alarms. Because if something doesn't check out, it could mean a lot of things, including your friend currently being in a lot of danger.

Or, you can continue arguing with me about how it's not alright to be suspicious based on the fact you've got a personal history with him. If I can't trust you to do it, I'll use someone I can.
