No, you don't get time off. We'll all be back in the office in a day or two, so I'll bung this up now while it's fresh in everyone's minds.
That's the first part of the job done. Well done. Pats on the back all round, and I'm buying the drinks on Friday night.
In the meantime, we have two new things to keep an eye on: firstly Kim-Ye Xorn. My initial instinct is that he won't be actively malevolent, but then, my instincts have been wrong before, and I don't think he'll be remotely easy to keep an eye on, but frankly, he's fascinating, and more importantly, potentially dangerous. I'm going to let Xavier know about him and I'd like everyone to keep an eye out for anything that looks like to might be connected to the man over the coming months. The Chinese wanted to weaponise him, and I'm sure others will too. I don't expect they'll find it so easy, but I'm sure some stupid bastard will try.
Which brings me to my second point: Dr Nathaniel Essex. Consider him a medium grade priority, folks. I want to know what he's been doing for the last few years, and I want an eye kept on him on an ongoing basis. I do not believe that he helped us help Xorn simply out of the goodness of his heart, or even just out of respect for ten million lives. At the very least, I am certain that his motivation for helping Xorn was that he hopes at some future date to be able to study the man. It would not surprise me to discover that he already has an agenda to bring that about, and I think I would prefer that the bastards he works with not learn anything about Xorn at all. I don't think this'll be much easier than keeping an eye on Xorn - he's got industrial grade connections with bastards, after all. Still, worth trying - even if he never goes near Xorn ever again, I'd still like to know what shady crap he's up to, in case it needs stopping.
See you all when we get back. Nice work.

Date: 2006-12-05 02:40 pm (UTC)So what do you have to do to become a high priority?
The guy was indirectly responsible for one of the worst days of my life, and I sure didn't miss the way Betsy wanted to stab his eye with the point of her shoe.
It's possible I'm overreacting.
It's also possible that my giant goddamn screaming headache won't go away.
Sorry for the language.
Okay, maybe not really.
Obviously, I need something better than the painkillers I've got. Any ideas?

Date: 2006-12-05 04:46 pm (UTC)I'll see you all when I get back. Taking a pit stop in England to see Rom. Tho' the chance to recharge in London is looking pretty good right now.

Date: 2006-12-06 09:41 am (UTC)Pose a clear and present danger. Essex is morally horrible, yes, but then, so am I.
The reason I called him a walking Grand Jury investigation and not "war crimes tribunal" is that I don't know (and I suspect almost no-one really does) how many of the things he's accused of can be definitively laid at his door (and by the same token, I don't know what he's done but not been accused of). So I want him watched, and a little digging done, for now, and if we turn up something we can actually convict him of, then we can re-evaluate the bastard. But since we have limited resources, and he does not so far as I know pose a threat to anyone's life, we're not about to drop everything and go after him.

And just so we're clear: if any of you wish to hunt him, or anyone else you have taken a dislike to, down and kill him on your own time, I will not stand in your way, as long as you do so in a manner that cannot be traced back to you or generally cause problems for this operation. But if it causes problems for Snow Valley, then you can expect to be hung out to dry very fast indeed.
Also, as a general rule, I don't recommend killing people just because you don't like them, or think that they might be a bit naughty.
But you knew that.

Date: 2006-12-07 03:40 am (UTC)I'm not going to go out and hunt him down and kill him. I will probably treat him as a little more than a medium grade priority, though.

Date: 2006-12-05 03:36 pm (UTC)Xorn, however, worries me. I would have thought that someone that seemingly important would have some impact on the future. Or perhaps he does and is blocking my power? Or he is just too large for me to see anything about him? Or it could be any number of other reasons, but I have nothing about him.
I hate not knowing. I think I've mentioned that a few times.

(Very funny telling our guest that I was some kind of psychopath; the poor boy was terrified to even breathe near me.)
